U9s Coaching Staff and Volunteers

Lichfield Rugby Club – “developing GREAT people in a GREAT rugby environment”

Throughout this current period, we would like to take the time to acknowledge all the hard work and effort that is made by our volunteer coaches, administrators, first aiders, etc., across the club. They really are the lifeblood of the club and the folk that enable us to provide a welcoming and enjoyable experience for our players, parents, members and visitors.

In order to do this on a personal level rather than a generic gesture, we are running a series of posts on the website and our social media platforms, each one focusing on an individual age group.

Thank you again for everything you do, it is hugely appreciated, and we couldn’t do it without you.

U9's Group Bio

The U9s are a great group of players, many of whom have been with Lichfield since their time in the Rugger Rats. Everyone gives 100% in training and we can’t wait to start playing games again (once it is allowed).

Favourite thing about Lichfield Rugby? It’s a joy every Sunday morning seeing happy kids playing, learning and having fun.
Steve Tomkins (Tonka)Head of Business (SFG20)Anyone can play rugby and there is a position and place for everyone. I love that you can watch a game sat next to an opposing fan, drink beer, have your youngsters with you and still have a laugh.Again, too many to list, (and any clan Tomkins). However more recently, I am enjoying watching Maro ItojeFavourite moments, too many to list, but going to watch England play France pre 2003 world cup is one that is up there. @Lichfield every Sunday with my two youngsters - helping and watching all the kids having fun, keeping fit, and getting wet and muddy in the great outdoors.
Dan BaylissBrand Manager - PeugeotNever really played rugby growing up. Only got into it thanks to my son, Dom, enjoying it so much and then Mr Bryant asking me to assist. I'm the one who will be learning about rugby at the same pace as our kids!Does Rory Underwood still play?!?Obvious memory... THAT kick against the Aussies.
Phoebe WeaverStudent It is a great way to meet new people and it is a sport in which everyone can participate.Leigh Halfpenny and Emily ScarrattBeing picked to play for Staffordshire, or watching Wales beat England in the 2015 world cup. Lichfield is where I started playing rugby and it is great to see everyone here enjoying themselves
Derek BaylissRetired. Formally Motor Trade Service ManagerI’ve have always been involved with sports. Before joining Lichfield RUFC 3 years ago to be responsible for first aid and looking after the kids’ welfare, I was involved with Tamworth Junior Football League -managing and training the same club for 9 years. That there are now three generations of the family associated with the same age group (as my son is one of the coaches). My interest in rugby began with my grandson joining Rugger Rats.
Gregg Harrold Tree SurgeonI’ve always found rugby to be the ultimate team sport. It doesn’t matter if you’re the best or the worst, you’re going nowhere without the other 14 players. Any try by Jason Robinson - a joy to watch on the ball. Favourite current England player; Manu TuilagiI played some of my junior rugby at Lichfield and it’s great to see my son Haiden enjoying his time there as much as I did (whilst still being involved myself).
